 Consultant                  MONTGOMERY DISTRIBUTORS, INC.                     2003 to 2008

                                                         Bakery Brokerage Business

 

Created bakery brokerage company for is wife, following the roof collapse and sale of Montgomery Bakers, Inc, assets to supply 1000 Starbuck Coffee Shops with various bakery products.

 ·         Organized the corporate structure,

·         Negotiated product line and pricing with customer.

·         Negotiated supply agreements and pricing with venders.

·         Built volume by 600% in less than 2 years.

  

President / CEO                       COIN X CHANGE, LLC                                   2003 to 2007

                                              Start-up consumer product venture

 

Conceived, developed and managed the Coin X Change, a network of self-service coin counting machines encompassed in freestanding kiosks placed in over 100 supermarkets, processing $50 million in coin annually. Launched an extensive market research effort to evaluate the opportunity, obtained copyrights, secured bank funding, negotiated manufacturing agreements and placement contracts with supermarkets.   

·         Built concept into a multi-million dollar company processing $50 million in coins annually.

·         Created and designed all artwork, kiosk design and all marketing material.

·         Obtained copyrights to artwork and kiosk design from U.S. Copyright office.

·         Negotiated and secured bank financing, and long term supermarket contracts.

·         Created advertising, marketing and product promotion portfolio, website, TV commercials and all point-of-purchase materials.

·         Orchestrated the sale of the company to a competitor.

 

President / CEO             MONTGOMERY BAKERS, INC.                              2001 to 2003

                                               Large Regional Bakery Manufacturer

Orchestrated the purchase of the assets of Montgomery Donut Company, Inc. out of Bankruptcy; a large 30,000 square foot bakery manufacturing plant with 10 retail outlets.

·         Reorganized entire corporate structure, returned company to profitability in less than 120 days.

·         Sold off unprofitable divisions and retail stores, restructured profitable divisions, created new divisions, expanded product line and customer base.

·         Created a franchise program for retail store expansion.

·         Created advertising, marketing and product promotion portfolio, including package design, website, and all point-of-purchase materials.

·         Negotiated settlement with insurance company and landlord after 30,000 square foot bakery manufacturing plant roof collapsed.

·         Divested assets of the Company following the closing the company after the entire roof collapsed at the manufacturing facility after a blizzard.

Founded firm to invest in a variety of public and private companies in the telecommunications, Internet, biotechnology, and consumer goods & services industries.

·         Purchased the failing 10 store Washington D.C. area Papa John’s franchise, redesigned core business and service operations, reduced costs and transitioned from loss to significant profit.  Doubled ROI in one year.

·         Leveraged investments in several private placements and non-traditional financings with returns of better than 100%.

  

President / CEO                    THE FISCHER BREWING COMPANY              1995 to 1997

                                                Start-up niche consumer product venture

 Conceived a niche novelty consumer product, Redneck Beer. Launched a multi-year market research effort to evaluate the opportunity, obtained trademarks, copyrights, secured bank funding, negotiated manufacturing agreement with the Stroh Brewing Company and launched new venture.

·         Built trademark from concept into a multi-million dollar company shipping 15 million bottles a year sold through 275 distributors in 32 states. Achieved unprecedented industry success.

·         Paid off start-up expenses in 45 days to build a debt-free company with substantial profits.

·         Licensed trademark to clothing manufacturer to produce t-shirts, hats, jackets and other novelty items, contributing to additional revenues.

·         Created advertising, marketing and product promotion portfolio for the product, including design of packaging, TV commercials and all point-of-purchase materials.

·         Hired investment banker to prepare offering memoranda, led road show presentations and posi­tioned company for IPO.  Subsequently divested business.

                                       Commercial real estate & business brokerage

Identified tremendous opportunity in the Washington, D.C. metro area retail, commercial and industrial real estate industry and launched new venture.  Specialized in real estate leasing, construction, management, property sales, real estate consulting and M&A transactions.  Client base included the local and federal government, and national and international companies (e.g., Safeway, McDonalds, Rite-Aid, Williams Holdings – UK).

·         Grew to one of the most active real estate companies in the DC market with up to $100 million in annual transactions (126% annual growth) with only 18 employees.

·         Over 10 years, orchestrated 1000+ transactions totaling over $1 billion.

·         Won 1994 Fast Trak Award and ranked as one of the largest commercial real estate brokerages in the DC metro region.

·         Expanded into the franchise consulting industry providing expertise in site selection, franchise sales and franchise operations.

·         Presented with, and accepted, a significant offer to sell The Fischer Organi­zation in 1998.

                                                Entrepreneurial restaurant venture

 

Expanded into the quick-service restaurant business through a combination of start-up and joint venture opportunities.  Directed business, from design and construction to menu planning, staffing, marketing, advertising and daily food service opera­tions.

 

·         Designed restaurant sites/concepts building a portfolio of 20 restaurants over a six -year period. 

·         Reconfigured portfolio to meet changing market demands and delivered substantial return on all divestitures.

·         Recruited and led a 20+ person senior and middle management team, and employed over 400 personnel.

                                                       Entrepreneurial venture

Launched first entrepreneurial venture at the age of 22 with his 2 brothers – the Washington, D.C. metro area’s first frozen yogurt shops.  Negotiated financing from a local bank and set up the retail and wholesale operations. Divested interests in 1982 to pursue other restaurant ventures.

 

·         Built company from concept to $2 million in profitable revenues within first two years, and 12 locations and $10+ million in revenues in five years.

·         Led the start-up of a wholesale division which manufactured and distributed to 125 restau­rants, supermarkets, drug stores and convenience stores throughout the region.
